Rice Krispy Treats… yum, right? Well, I’ve accidentally found a way to make them taste more like a caramel brittle of some sort instead of light and airy like you might be used to. Just cook the butter/marshmallow mix a little longer until it gets darker, and then add the rice krispies and continue as normal. It turns out hard at first, but if you break it up and bag it overnight, it gets to a much more palatable level of hardness. Still… it basically tastes like you just put a dark caramel into the mix of rice krispy treats without much extra work.
A fun accident made into a little information for those who think overheated butter unsalvageable.
